CiQ Announcements
August 18, 2015 01:02PM
If you've been to a show in the last 6 months or so, you've probably noticed that we've been playing 2 songs that aren't on Seven Steps. We've had a quite a few people ask us when those are going to be released. I don't have an exact date, HOWEVER, I will say this: We started recording on them today! In an effort to release more music more often, we've decided that when these are done, they'll be released as singles instead of waiting for a full album release. This way we can record and release songs much more frequently, hopefully accompanied by some video clips and other things. The goal is simple; more cool things more often. What are some things you'd like to see? Studio videos? Us screwing around at practice? Want to see other hidden talents? A weird cover song? Tom doing cartwheels? New merch (keychains, new shirts, coffee mugs, lucky underpants)? Gear rundowns? Make your suggestions in the comments!

Hello everybody! UPDATE TIME!

As many of you know, we played with Five Finger Death Punch this summer and it was amazing! A lot of cool stuff came out of that show, including Ivan Moody raving about Seven Steps! We received a ton of help from the sound crew, Zoltan Bathory's guitar tech, and from FFDP themselves, so the last few months have been spent really getting our stuff together to focus on the band. What kind of stuff? I'm glad you asked.

First up, we invested into road-ready cases for all of our equipment and a trailer. Stu totally kicks ass at building stuff, so he built a few custom cases, mounted some really cool metal strap locks inside the trailer, and did pretty much everything that got us ready for the road. We played a couple road gigs to test our system out and it works amazingly.

We've put together a monitor rack with a built in split and everybody has in ear monitors now. This allows us to pull into literally any venue, take a split off their snake, and be 100% in control of our own monitors. It might not sound like much, but it's huge for us. We've been getting a lot of compliments on this and sound guys love it.

Next step is to bring our show to the next level with full light production. Tom's spent a huge number of hours researching, buying, and programming the light show and it's looking great! Everything is being designed to fit inside a few custom rack cases, again built by Stu, so that, just like our monitor rack, we can setup at any venue and have a repeatable, dazzling production. Yes dazzling. It dazzles.

Last but not least, we're currently in a contest sponsored by Converse and Guitar Center called "Get out of the garage" at http://getoutofthegarage.amplifiertv.com/channel/Chaos+in+Question. Out of 8141 channels, we're #7! There are three days left and the winner is picked from a panel of judges. Thank you everybody that shared, listened, and commented on our channel to get us this far! The winner will be invited to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live in Brooklyn. Believe me when I say, WE ARE READY!

Lots of things have been happening in the background with CiQ in the last few months, so let's all get caught up!

Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to our good friend and vocalist Chris Kostuck. There's no ill will here, it just simply didn't work out with life getting in the way. We thank Chris for all the hard work he put in, tons of time spent, and his enthusiasm for keeping us motivated. It was a pleasure working with him.

We are moving forward and are extremely excited to welcome our dear friend Tom Lunde to the chaos family! Tom brings an amazing amount of experience to the band both from a performance and composition perspective. You may recognize him from his other bands (Skyline, Kill Baxter, and currently Tune in Tokyo) or from the title of one of our songs (Tom vs Time, which he may have to sing as "Me vs Time" heh).

Tom has displayed such an incredible ability to pick up on things that we'll be returning to the stage Oct 18th at The Legacy Ballroom with some AWESOME bands: Eye Empire and Stardog Champion (2 original members of Breaking Benjamin)! We might even have a new song finished and ready to amaze and delight you!

In addition to that, we've bought a trailer, bought some gear to improve the actual show (lighting, monitor rack, and some other cool stuff), and are lining up shows in Sioux Falls, Minneapolis, etc... Lots of great things coming down the pipe!

We're excited to do an interview in Grand Forks this Saturday for Casey Jarombek's Local Alternative KSRQ 90.1FM with OUR NEW VOCALIST Chris Kostuck!

I'm not sure when it'll air (editing and such), but we're hoping to do an acoustic track while we're there. If not, we'll get some good ol' basement recordings up in the next couple weeks.

Chris has an amazing voice and a genuinely good all around guy, so we're pumped to have him as part of our family. Now, we need to get polished back up for shows and we have a few new songs in the works. The next currently scheduled performance is April 20th at Mothers Music Moorhead for Record Store Day!

It is with a heavy heart that we announce Jeff Lee's departure from the band. We wish Jeff the best of luck as he pursues his career in law enforcement outside of North Dakota.

Don't worry, the rest of us aren't going anywhere. We're currently holding auditions and hope to be back doing shows soon! If you or somebody you know would like to take a shot at being our new lead vocalist, message us here or send an email to booking@chaosinquestion.com!

Come out to see Jeff before he leaves on January 26.  All ages show at Gios Pizza in Moorhead.

Just got done listening to the album. Need to go in on Monday and track a harmony vocal we forgot (d'oh!), but should have the entire thing wrapped up next week! Next up, we need it mastered and discs manufactured. Should just be a few weeks to a couple months to get finished discs in everybody's hands! Thank you everybody for being patient with us throughout this process!

Hello Everybody,

Lots of stuff cooking in the CiQ camp right now, but let's start with release date.   As it turns out, the Feb 1st release date was a little too aggressive, so we need to push it out a little.  Rather than set another date and be wrong, we simply cannot put a date on it at this point.  We have all the tracking done and are in the middle of mixing.  After that, we have mastering, which can take anywhere from a few days to a few months, and then disc pressing, which is a couple weeks.  Ignore the release date in our Bandcamp store as we had to put something in there.  The album will be out WAY before December, that I can assure you.  We're really taking the time to make this album as enjoyable as it possibly can be.  Recording in a professional studio has been an interesting journey for all of us and the production on this album is going to be amazing.  There are tons more layers than we originally conceived, which accentuate the dynamics of every song,  Trevor, our producer and engineer, is an absolute genius with this stuff, so rest assured this will be a high quality record.

We're continuing to write new material and we're polishing up the live show up again.  Expect to see a lot of us this summer!
